A fully mechanized iron ore mine of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), located at Daitari area of Keonjhar district in Odisha was commissioned in 1974. Ore Handling Plant (OHP) being the major bottleneck, production continued to be less than 50% of the capacity.

KCCL accepted the challenge of BOT contract of OMC in the year 2010 for modification of OHP and operation for 10 years at the rate of 2.0 MTPA. Project work was completed in time, but commencement of operation was delayed for nearly 3 years due to absence of Statutory Clearances.

Starting in November 2014, the new project of KCCL achieved production more than the rated capacity in 2014-15 and 2015-16. Subsequently, continued operation with further modifications achieving enhanced productions from 3.0 MTPA in 2019-20 to 4.25 MTPA in 2021-22 and thereafter, with present capacity of 6.0 MTPA with extension of contract beyond 10 years.

The contract of raising and transport of ore at Hilltop Iron Ore Mine located at Suakati area, Keonjhar district in Odisha, was awarded in the year 2017 for 8 (5+3) years by OMC. Though the contract quantity of production was 3.0 MTPA, with addition of facilities KCCL enhanced this capacity to 4.5 MTPA in the 3 rd year and subsequently to more than 7.0 MTPA. Now the contract is successfully continuing for the 8 th year.

Jilling-Langalota Iron & Manganese Mine is situated in Barbil Tehsil of Keonjhar District. The nearest railway station at Jaroli of S.E. Railway is about 3 km from the mine. KCCL won the contract to operate at this mine of OMC for 2+8 years and started mining operation on 16th February 2021. After mine being operated with a Peak Rated Capacity of 6.0 MTPA for 3 years, as EC capacity is now enhanced, production capacity of the mine is being enhanced to 10MTPA.

KCCL was awarded a contract to operate Taldih captive iron ore mine of Steel Authority of India Limited, in Barsua area, Sundargarh District Odisha in 2022. After successfully achieving the contract quantity, SAIL has extended the contract for 2 times with additional quantities to operate the mine till new MDO contract for 8 MTPA starts operation.

Putulpani Iron Ore Mines of Gandhamardan Block-B is being operated in a separate contract of OMC at a production capacity of 2.0 MTPA, to achieve additional production required for total Block-B ML area of OMC.

Kalta iron ore mine is situated at Kalta area of Sundargarh district in Odisha is a captive mine of SAIL. This present contract is for 4 years starting from July, 2023, where KCCL had successful experience of previous operations with record achievements. The target is 4 MTPA , by fully mechanized operation along with road transport of 23kms to Roxy railway siding and rake loading for dispatch to Steel plants. As per contract, manual working by local people is also mandatory for which small part of the blasted material is provided for breaking into desired sizes.

KCC has extended support to BS Mining for their contract at this mine in Noamundi area by installing and operating crushers to provide required size materials.

This contract of working Chromite Mines of OMC at South Kaliapani Quarry–F, Sukinda Valley, Jajpur district, Odisha is being executed by KCCL since February,2020 for 6 Million CuM. of excavation per annum for 7 years. In addition to excavation of Chromite ore and overburden, KCCL transports ore and OB to separate stockyards according to their grades, along with continuous de-watering from the pits. This contract is now smoothly running for last 5 years.

This contract for development and operation at Sukinda Chromite Mines and Twin Mines (Saruabil and Kamarda) in sukinda chrome belt, jajpur district, Odisha was awarded for 6 and 10 years respectively. This contract was for development and maintenance of old chromite mines with new mining plans for excavation, dewatering with construction of infrastructure, rehandling of dumps and proper haulage roads, Maintenance of ETP etc. Production started in January’21 after developing and bringing the non-operating mine to working condition for smooth operations and continued for nearly 3 years.

During this period the total quantity of excavation at Sukinda Mines and Twin Mines has been 23 Million Cum and 8 Million CuM respectively with chrome ore production as per the revised targets given by TATA mines. Due to operational constraints the operation of both the mines have been stopped.

A new contract for operation of Sukrangi chromite mine adjacent to South Kaliapani Quarry–F was awarded by OMC for Excavation and Transportation of Chrome Ore and OB for a total volume excavation volume of 97.80 LCum on 03.01.2023. KCCL started operation in Feb 2023 and continuing.

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has awarded a contract to KCCL for duration of 5 years for mining operation involving OB removal for total quantity of 51 MCuM & it is situated at Talcher area of Angul district in Odisha which would be completed soon.

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) awarded the contract to KCCL for mining operation involving 33.80 MCum OB removal and extraction of 6.03Million Tonnes of coal between 28.07.2022 to 27.10.2025 and other associated works from the south pit extension of Talaipalli Coal Mining project in Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh. This is the first assignment for KCCL to work with NTPC. With best efforts, KCCL would be completing the assignment much before the schedule period i.e. March’25.

South eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has awarded a contract to KCCL in joint venture with M/s DECO (Dhansar Engineering Co. Private Limited) for mining operation involving 175.52 MCum OB removal and extraction of 194.02 Million Tonnes of coal and other associated works from the Dipka area located in Korba district, Chhattisgarh. In this first assignment with SECL, the contract starting from October, 2022 is continuing 3rd year of operation.

A contract for OB removal of 18.6 Million CuM in 3 years at Balram OCP in Talcher Area has been awarded by MCL. As per the contract, there would not be any blasting and Vibro- Rippers have been proposed for excavation of hard rock OB.

For the first time in this coal field, Vibro- Rippers were used by KCCL and target of daily excavation of OB was achieved, making this trial operation successful.

South eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has awarded this work for OB removal for total quantity of 2,54,78,701 CuM within a period of 3 years starting from January,2023.

Mahanadi Coal Field Limited (MCL) has awarded contract to KCCL for 5 years for mining operation involving 168.05 MCum OB removal and extraction of 140.92 Million Tonnes of coal and other associated works from the Jagannath area located in Anugul district, Odisha. KCCL participated in the tender floated by MCL in joint venture with M/s DECO (Dhansar Engineering Co. Private Limited) was selected as L1 bidder.

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has awarded a contract to KCCL for duration of 3 years 6 months 3 days for mining operation with total quantity 111.15 MBCM & it is situated at Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh.

Gerva Coal Mine is situated at Korba district of Chhattisgarh. This mine was awarded to SAINIK mining for 3 years which is also being executed by KCCL for mining operation involving per day production 70,338 Cum with the total quantity 7, 70, 20,167Cum.

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has awarded a contract to KCCL for duration of 4 years for mining operation involving per day production of 40,506.85 BCM with total quantity 59.14 MBCM & it is situated at Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh.

A contract of MCL to operate at Lakhanpur-Belpahar-Lilari OCP in Lakhanpur area to excavate Over burden and transport to designated area including rehandling of OB for total quantity of 34.19 Million CuM has been awarded to be completed within a period of 5 years, for which execution of contract has been started on 18.09.2024. This assignment is progressing as per plan.

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has awarded a contract to KCCL for duration of 5 years for mining operation involving per day production 98,395 BCM with total quantity 179.57 MBCM & it is situated at Sundergarh district of Odisha.

A new contract for operation of Dubuna-sakradih Iron & Manganese Mines was awarded by OMC for Excavation and Transportation of 3MTPA Iron and 50,000 MT Manganese ore. The contract period is for 5 years. Kccl received LoA on 01.07.2024.
